    J5C update

Hello dear readers, you probably wonder if I was able to work the J5C DXpedition.
Well, good news, I made it 4 times into the log with 3 modes.
They were very strong on 17 this weekend (CW & RTTY)...and because I worked the late shift today I was able to work them easily on 20m RTTY this morning.
The team did a great job, they weren't as strong as their previous DXped XT2C, but I think the A-index was the killing factor.
Going through their online log I discovered that Kevin KG6D and Tiny KT6YL (ex. ON4CAT) also worked J5C.
I met Kevin a couple of months ago in our club station while he was visiting Belgium. He had been of the radio for a while but after his visit and with the support of Tiny he decided the reconnect his PL259 with his trusty FT-990.
Great job Kevin and welcome back....See below for the picture taken by Tiny

Other then J5C I wasn't QRV. I'm training hard for a cycling (cyclocross) trial end of January in Maldegem.

It's not all gold that shines

It's not really ham related, but I found this video posted by Elaine, WB6UBE.
She shows / reveals what marketing guys make us believe.
Enjoy the youtube video. --> here <--

    QSL and other activities

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a QSL cards from my favorite printer Max, ON5UR. Since I didn't sended QSL since a couple of months I had a huge backlog. Well some good news for those who waiting for QSL ON7RU...they are on the way. Cards for the lighthouse operation arrived as well but I'll print the labels in a couple of months. Our club QSL manager, ON3TD, asked me to take it easy  ;-)), but we helped my kindly to sort the Cof hondred cards.
Activity is rather low last couple of weeks. However I really want to work the J5C operation. They have great signals and it will be easy to work them when the big guns have worked them.

Today I found a great link for constructing my levy-antenna. It's seems to be cheap but relayable. I found it on the page of KR1ST.
This should work fine with the palstar BT1500A which sits still in the box.
That's it for today, all the best and catch you on the air
